President - Mr. Edward L. Gillette, Jr.

Edward L. Gillette, Jr. is the President and principal engineer of Environmental Engineering and Management Associates, Inc. He is a graduate of Tufts University with a BSCE (Sanitary Option), and completed graduate studies in Sanitary Engineering at Tufts University.

Ed started his career as a wastewater treatment field operations pilot plant engineer with Linde Division of Union Carbide. He then moved to Baker-Wibberley and Associates as a sanitary engineer. Prior to starting his own firm, he also worked for Betz-Converse-Murdoch and PSC Environmental Services as a principal engineer. Ed has more than thirty years of sanitary engineering experience, specializing in wastewater treatment and industrial facilities, including concept design, start-up, operator training, operations and maintenance preparation, operations and management, and troubleshooting.

Ed received the Eastern Pennsylvania WPCOA Award for dedication to personnel advancement in 1983, the State of Pennsylvania Award for dedication to classroom instruction of plant operators in 1980, the Eastern Pennsylvania WPCOA Bolenius-Weist Award for Development of Operator Excellence in 1990, and the Pennsylvania WEF's Ted Haseltine Award in 1996.

Ed has a vast amount of experience with the design and operational work of activated sludge wastewater treatment. He has designed facilities with biological nitrogen removal and phosphorus removal; carried out performance evaluations and process troubleshooting, including odor control cost efficiency; and process efficiency at municipal and industrial plants using all types of forward flow and sludge handling processes. Ed has been the Plant Superintendent for plants that range from 10,000 gpd to 52 MGD.
