Shockey Precast Wastewater Treatment Plant

Location: Fredericksburg, Virginia

Facility: An extended aeration WWTP serving a large precast concrete manufacturer with parallel sedimentation and neutralization facility for industrial process water.

The facility was experiencing difficulty meeting the discharge limitation for total Kjeldahl nitrogen (TKN). Shockey had been told they needed a larger facility. EEMA evaluated the plant and made process recommendations as well as recommendations for an innovative blending of industrial process water with domestic wastewater prior to treatment. Implementing these recommendations improved performance of the activated sludge plant while providing cost savings to the client.

EEMA provides operation and maintenance management for the facility while training the client’s staff and preparing the client’s operator for appropriate certification. The plant is currently meeting all discharge parameters and has demonstrated the ability to exceed all performance requirements.
